LIVING A PRAYFUL LIFE
I'm reading a most amazing book at the moment. The title, Heaven On Earth with the author being Stephanie Dowrick.
I've purchased a number of Stephanie's writings and continue to find her work incredibly inspiring.
For me, her words are profound. Packed with wisdom, a pure love, kindness, intention and a commitment to making the world a more beautiful place.
Truthfully, I can only ever read a page or two of her work. Sometimes just a sentence or paragraph. Closing her books, I consistently feel like my mind has been lifted to a new dimension, my heart feeling new things and remembering my truth and purpose.
Tonight I was reading about prayer. And came across a delightful paragraph about prayerful living. These simple notations, of course not new, listed so wholly the way that I LOVE to live my life. And would love to live more consistently and faithfully.
Reading inspired gratitude in my heart … a timely reminder with the new year impending, of what to keep front and centre for 2k15.
From Stephanie Dowricks writing in Heaven On Earth (pg16) ...
"And while prayer is usually shared through words, there are many other ways to live prayerfully, including service to others, spiritual study, caring for the physical world, sending good wishes, holding the hand of a vulnerable stranger, speaking up for fairness, listening deeply, appreciating what you have, finding new courage in the face of suffering, or celebrating the details of everyday life with greater joy."
Simple, yet SO powerful.
Just imagine the difference in our lives and world if each of us included more in our life of ...
SERVICE TO OTHERS ~ What does this mean to you? Where do you serve others in your life?
SPIRITUAL STUDY ~ Where and how do you grow your spirit?
CARING FOR THE PHYSICAL WORLD ~ Our Earth loves us so much … where could you care more?
SPEAKING UP FOR FAIRNESS ~ You have a powerful voice. Where do you use it well?
LISTENING DEEPLY ~ A gift to both others and ourselves, this is a true art.
APPRECIATING WHAT YOU HAVE ~ Could you include a gratitude list as a daily commitment?
NEW COURAGE IN THE FACE OF SUFFERING ~ What dream inside you can you reignite?
CELEBRATING THE DETAILS OF LIFE ~ Where are the roses?
